Frequently asked questions

Answers below cover the main CloudLabBox questions around access, lab persistence, connectivity, credentials, and account management.

General

What is CloudLabBox?

CloudLabBox is an online, multi-vendor network simulation platform powered by EVE-NG. It lets you spin up virtual network labs in the cloud — no downloads or local installs required.

Which vendors and images are supported?

We support 1500+ firmwares from many vendors, including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, and more. You can choose multiple OS versions for each vendor.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. You can also pay with Revolut or Klarna.

Where can I get support?

We have a for troubleshooting and general questions: https://discord.gg/YeJJpGqaJb.

For technical or billing questions, email [email protected]. We aim to respond within 8 hours.

Account & access

How do I start a free trial?

On our Home page, select Free Demo, enter your desired username and password, then follow the on-screen instructions. You get 30 minutes to test available firmwares.

What happens to my labs if my account expires?

When your account expires, your lab is retained for up to 30 days. During that time, your saved topology remains associated with your account and you can come back by extending or changing your plan through the Account page.

After that 30-day retention window, expired labs are eligible for deletion and cleanup. If a lab is important, extend it before the retention window ends.

If your account expires with a lab running, save device configs first. When you extend your account, your topology remains and you can restart nodes (or continue if the lab was still running, depending on state).

Will my lab config be saved when I quit?

Yes. Save configs on your devices before leaving. Devices may be turned off after inactivity.

Can I extend my lab time?

Yes — use the Account page to extend your existing plan.

Can I change the specs of my lab later?

Yes — use the Account page to upgrade your plan.

How do I find out how long I have left on my lab?

Enter your lab username below and click Check. This does not change your lab in any way.

Tip: The lookup is case-insensitive. If your lab is expired, we show 0.

How do I reset my password?

Enter your username, current password, and new password below.

If you forgot your password, we can issue a temporary one. Contact us on Discord or by email at [email protected].

Connectivity & node behavior

Will my lab be able to access the internet?

Yes and no. Linux boxes can access package repositories (for example, apt-get install), but other internet access is restricted unless explicitly allowed.

To use this limited internet path, connect your device to a network object (cloud symbol) and choose nat0 as the network object type.

How do I connect to a device locally via HTTP?

You can spin up a Windows 11 PC or Windows Server 2019 node, place it on a reachable network, and use the built-in browser to open the device GUI over HTTP.

Why is my node not booting?

Most firmwares boot with default settings, but some require changing the QEMU Version in node edit settings. Try newer versions first (for example, 5.2.0 has worked well).

If it still fails after trying multiple QEMU versions, test another firmware image.

I'm getting a vCPU quota violation, but haven't reached my quota?

Sometimes EVE-NG does not fully stop/delete nodes, leaving hidden background nodes consuming vCPU.

Open the side tab and use Stop all nodes to force-stop stale processes.

Then try starting your nodes again.

Imports & credentials

How do I import labs from a .UNL file?

You can import .UNL labs directly from your CloudLabBox user directory.

1) In your user directory, click the Import Lab button.

You may need to edit the .UNL file (any text editor) so firmware names match images available on our EVE-NG instance.

Example .UNL before editing:

In this example, the file requested paloalto-9.1.2. If that exact name is unavailable, switch to an available one, such as paloalto-11.0.0.

Save, zip the file (uploads must be .zip), then import.

If a firmware is missing, contact [email protected] or ask in Discord.

Where can I find the default usernames and passwords for devices?

You can find all credentials on the Docs page in the Credential Explorer.

Use the search box to quickly filter by vendor, username, password, or platform.
